Watershed School Expands Outreach To Lincoln and Waldo Counties

Watershed School, an independent high school located in Camden, Maine, will expand its outreach programs to the Damariscotta area with an open house on Saturday, October 19th from  4pm - 6pm. The informational gathering will take place at the home of one of Watershed’s juniors, Ben Moon-Black, at 73 Bristol Road, Damariscotta. All those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by October 14 to hosts Jean Moon or Vicki Black at (207) 563 - 5948 or [email protected]. An additional Open House is scheduled for November, 16th to be hosted by another Watershed family, that of sophomore Leslie Ryan, at 43 High Street, Belfast. Interested parties may visit Watershed’s website www.watershed-school.org or call (207) 230-7341.

The school has initiated a van service to shuttle students to home, school, or extra-curricular activities. Residents of Belfast, Damariscotta and other areas at a distance from the Camden campus are welcomed to consider Watershed School, which is committed to supporting families with transportation restrictions. Increasingly, the school attracts students from a wider geographic area including Belfast and Monroe to the North, Union and Hope to the West, and St. George, Rockland, South Thomaston, Waldoboro and Damariscotta to the south.

At each open house, visitors will have the opportunity to meet Head of School, Will Galloway, as well as a number of faculty, students, and parents. Watershed is an independent high school serving the midcoast region of Maine. “A Watershed education is built on the principle that exceptional individual growth develops out of strong teacher–student relationships within the context of a close-knit school community. Faculty concentrate on knowing each student’s learning style, interests, past educational experiences, and future aspirations so they can effectively help develop each student’s full potential,” says Phil Gerard, founding director.  Graduates of the high school have been accepted into some of the most selective and respected colleges and universities in the country, including Georgetown, Tufts, Wellesley, Rhode Island School of Design, Oberlin College, and many others.

Watershed is accepting applications for the 2013-2014 academic year. For more information about the application process visit www.watershed-school.org or call (207) 230-7341.
